Andy Stott – Numb

‘Numb’ has been around for a little while now but if you’ve only heard of Andy Stott in passing or have left it alone for whatever reason, it is available on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm-V1XvOyls) and is well worth listening to. I’m certainly surprised at some of the more mixed feedback that has  followed this track because it would fit onto ‘Passing’ quite easily I think. The modulated and layered vocal features on this track are stunning and lift this into being a really interesting track. The bass and percussion/beat-work here is also of the usual Andy Stott standard. Stott has always made his low end stand out so perfectly combining low-end glitch and thump with a variety of low frequency sounds that he trips together to make his compositions a cut above the rest. There’s an album ‘Luxury Problems’ due on October 29th.
